Come and see
us at the West Kentucky
Boat & Outdoor Show in Murray, Kentucky. We will have
a booth there for the duration of the show (January 18-20, 2008)
Also, we will
be at the Paducah Boat show the following weekend (January 25-27,
2008)
Patrick Hahs
of Kentucky HydroGrafx will be presenting a seminar titled "Sidescan
Sonar -- Uses for a typical Fisherman". The subject will
include a basic understanding of conventional sonar and why sidescan
sonar is so different and useful for the relatively shallow lakes
we fish.
The creation
of sidescan sonar imagery by Kentucky HydroGrafx continues to
be very useful for many that visit KY and Barkley lake in pursuit
of bass and crappie, and with Humminbird "SideImaging"
units readily available, more have the ability to sidescan areas
they want to know more about. Tips will be provided on how to
use this technology for the most benefit.

We are currently

further upstream into the TN portion of KY Lake throughout this
Fall. Barkley lake will also get attention when we start scanning
the Barkley Lake NW area.

We have completed
what is named "Kentucky Lake Northwest Sidescan". This includes
the area originally topo and 3D mapped, but has been expanded
from 1800 to 3000 acres in size.
A large portion
of the expansion includes what the Sledd Creek embayment near
Kentucky Lake Dam. Other areas expanded include the flats in the
backs of the smaller bays with the area.
In our email
notices from now on, you will have the option to unsubscribe from
the notification list if you prefer to view our news on our website.
Mapping activities
in the immediate future will include finalizing the East Side
South data for release, then working further upstream in the Tennessee
portion of Kentucky Lake.
The most recently
completed sets other than the new KY lake Northwest include Eddy
Creek Sidescan and Donaldson Creek Sidescan (both are on Lake
Barkley).

Coming
soon..... new/updated products are in the works after a busy
field season. We have been working on 4 different project areas
this Spring/Summer. All of these are sidescan updates for existing
areas. It's been tricky balancing wind/weather conditions along
with night-time boat traffic.
The areas
to be released this Fall include sidescans of Eddy Creek (Barkley),
Donaldson Creek (Barkley), KY Lake NW, and Ky Lake East side bays
south. Data collection activity status is as follows: Eddy Creek
(90%), Donaldson Creek (95%), KY Northwest (35%), and East Side
South (60%). Eddy Creek will likely be the first new release hopefully
in early October.
Other news...
We have a new survey boat that will allow all-year mapping work.
I will post a few pictures of the boat soon. Excessive wind and/or
freezing conditions will be the only deterrent to data collection
activities from now on.
